Yala safari prices, with nothing hidden

Yala jeep safaris start from $15 per person for a half-day, $21 for a 7-hour, and $46 for a full-day tour — with the season deal applied. These are per-person rates for the jeep, driver and licensed tracker-guide. National park entrance tickets (about $43 per adult) are additional and paid separately.

All rates include A/C transfers from your hotel or nearest designated pick-up point (depending on access) and an open-top jeep with a driver-guide for the game drive. Transit packages also include drop-off to the destination shown. The only things not covered are food & drinks and the national-park entry tickets.

No. Park tickets are set by the Department of Wildlife and paid separately — you can add them at checkout or pay in cash (LKR) at the gate. Yala is about $43 per adult; Udawalawe about $37. We'll advise the current ticket price before your tour.

Half-Day is about 5 hours, 7-Hour is about 7 hours, and Full-Day is about 12 hours including breaks and travel between tracks. (Udawalawe's mid-length tour runs about 5 hours.) Leopard-focused? The full-day and 7-hour options give the best odds.

All prices shown are per person. A jeep seats up to 7 guests, so larger groups travel together in one vehicle. Children and infants get reduced rates, and you can add a fully private vehicle upgrade on the transfer routes at checkout.

Yala has the lowest entry rates and the highest leopard density in the world, so it's both the best value and the top pick for big cats. Udawalawe is the surest bet for elephants, Bundala is best for birds and flamingos, and Lunugamwehera (Yala Block 5) offers the same wildlife as Yala with far fewer jeeps. Further afield, Wilpattu is the largest and wildest park and the best in the country for sloth bears, Minneriya and Kaudulla host the elephant Gathering each dry season, and Kumana is the finest birding park on the east coast.

Alongside the southern parks we run Wilpattu in the north west (pickup from Anuradhapura and Puttalam), Minneriya and Kaudulla in the Cultural Triangle (pickup from Habarana, Sigiriya and Dambulla) and Kumana on the east coast (pickup from Arugam Bay and Pottuvil). Each is priced from $35 per person for a half day.

Yes — if you need a ride before or after your safari, our transit packages fold a game drive into your journey between Ella, the south coast, Arugam Bay or a Hambantota cruise call. They're often better value than a separate day trip because the safari replaces a transfer you were making anyway.
