Bundala is a birder’s year-round reserve, but the migratory season from August to April brings the greatest numbers and variety — including the greater flamingos that gather on the lagoons. The cool early-morning drive is prime time, when waders feed and the light is soft for photography. Afternoons are quieter and beautiful at golden hour.
Booking direct means no agency mark-up: the half-day Bundala safari costs $40 per person, the 7-hour tour $55 and the full-day adventure $70 — jeep, driver, licensed guide and complimentary binoculars included.
